Content – An inspiring song that uses a race as a metaphor for life, encouraging determination, courage and teamwork. It celebrates aiming high, doing your best and taking part with confidence, while reminding listeners that success is not only about coming first but also about perseverance, shared hopes and supporting one another.
The positive, encouraging message makes this ideal for use as a school song, as well as great send-off song for the end of the school year.
With straightforward harmony/counterpoint and modulation into the powerful ending, this is also an excellent set piece for junior choir.

Lyrics Sample
Here I am at the starting line again.
I’m ready and I’m waiting to begin.
I long to seize the moment,
To begin making it happen.
For a silver or gold
Take my place and be bold...
In the race of life.
We’ll chase the prize!
It’s there to be won, rain or sun.
We only have to try.
Sharing hopes, sharing dreams,
Being part of the team:
Let’s never rest until we’ve done our best.
...
Now let’s aim towards our goal.
We’ll be strong together
If we’re united in our hearts
From the start…
In the race of life... (etc.)
So we’re aiming high (aiming high)
In the race of life.
Gonna touch the sky (touch the sky)
In the race of life.
Running in the race of life!
