Theme  –  Christmas, homelessness, poverty, compassion

Content  –  A moving Christmas song about a lonely, homeless child asking for shelter, food and compassion. Through the contrast between the solo voice and the responding chorus, it challenges listeners to notice those in need, open their hearts and offer practical kindness. Its wider message is that the true spirit of Christmas is found in welcome, generosity and care for others.

Lyrics Sample

Solo

Please will you help me?

I’m lost and alone.

I’m so tired and hungry.

I’ve no place to call home.

Can’t you hear me knocking?

Please open up the door,

And I’ll wish you a very merry Christmas

From now to ever more.

All

Please will you listen?

She’s there in the rain.

If only you’d help her

Stop the tears and the pain.

Can’t you hear her knocking?

Please open up the door,

And she’ll wish you a very merry Christmas

From now to ever more...
