The Little Red Hen

The Little Red Hen is a delightful mini-musical based on the traditional tale.  It's ideal as part of a literacy project or for World Book Day, but it has been adapted to make it a very suitable assembly presentation for Harvest time, with its focus upon how wheat grows.

On the farm, hard-working Red Hen asks her friends, Cat, Dog and Duck to help her plant some wheat seeds, but they're all too lazy, so she has to do it by herself. When the wheat has grown, she asks them to help harvest the crop and bake the bread, but they're still too lazy - until it's time to eat the bread, when they're suddenly very keen to help! The kind Red Hen does share it with them, but only after they’ve learned a very important lesson.
