Theme    Dealing with bullying, relationships

Content    A song about standing up for yourself in the right way, that points out the importance of thinking clearly, speaking out calmly and asking for help in a hurtful situation. A great extension to work in PSHE and very helpful when dealing with bullying in school.

Lyrics Sample

Stand up for yourself, in the right way,

Don’t be afraid if people say

Things that hurt you know they’re wrong.

Turn around and sing this song:

Say it like it is, slowly speak your mind.

Shout it from the rooftops, then you’ll find

Truth is on your side.  Never be afraid

     Tell the one who matters:

     And it’ll be okay.

You can’t solve a problem with a big fight;

Two wrongs will never make it right.

Stand up tall and think it through.

Listen now, here’s what to do:

Say it like it is…  (etc.)

It’ll be okay, so don’t postpone.

You don’t have to stand alone.

Ask for help, it shows that you are strong.

It’ll be okay, don’t worry now:

Find someone to show you how.

Turn it round so things can move along...

For a first-rate junior show on the theme of bullying, check out 'Bully!', which - despite its title - is full of fun and very appealing to children.
