Content - This song is about a race in which we all take part: the day to day race of life. The theme is aiming high, seizing opportunities and finding the inner strength to cope with the race. Whether we're first or last, at least we're taking part!
The positive, encouraging message of 'In The Race Of Life' makes it very suitable for use as a school song, as well as being a great send off for the end of the school year.
With straightforward harmony/counterpoint and modulation into the powerful ending, this is also an excellent set piece for junior choir.

Lyrics sample
Here I am at the starting line again.
I’m ready and I’m waiting to begin.
I long to seize the moment,
To begin making it happen.
For a silver or gold
Take my place and be bold...
In the race of life.
We’ll chase the prize!
It’s there to be won, rain or sun.
We only have to try.
Sharing hopes, sharing dreams,
Being part of the team:
Let’s never rest until we’ve done our best.
...
Now let’s aim towards our goal.
We’ll be strong together
If we’re united in our hearts
From the start…
In the race of life... (etc.)
So we’re aiming high (aiming high)
In the race of life.
Gonna touch the sky (touch the sky)
In the race of life.
Running in the race of life!
