Theme – learning by example, each creature from its own kind

Content – This song teaches that people learn best by following the example of someone like themselves. The playful verses about worms, ducks, cows, and birds show that each creature can only truly teach what it knows naturally. The message is then applied to people: we grow and learn from “our own kind.”  From an RE/Sunday School point of view, the song may be useful to help explain how Jesus came to us as a human being, to help us learn through his words and his example. Cheerful repetition and animal sounds make the song fun and easy to learn.
